Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil to use as your work surface or use a disposable tin pan.
Remove the alcohol dropper bottle and alcohol inks from the plastic bag.
Remove all caps from the bottles.
Remove the glass completely from the picture frame.
Use a few drops of alcohol to clean both sides of the glass.
Place the glass on your prepared cookie sheet or tin pan.
Use gloves to protect your hands from getting stained by the alcohol inks.
Create your masterpiece
Drop alcohol inks onto the glass in any design. Note: A little ink goes a long way.
Add a line of alcohol down the middle of the glass lengthwise.
Pick up and gently swirl the glass to combine the colors and spread the ink around until you are happy with the design.
Make sure the alcohol bottle and inks are set away from your workspace. (Depending on how much alcohol you use, the flames can reach as high as 12 inches)
Exercise caution and light the alcohol on fire with a lighter.
After the fire has burned out, the inks will be completely dry. The glass will be a little hot, so wait until it’s cooled down before handling.
If you don’t like how your design turns out, try adding more ink and more alcohol and repeat steps 4 and 5.
If you don’t like your design, use some alcohol to wipe down the entire glass and start over!
Seal it and Frame it
Place the glass, painted side up, into the frame.
Add a white background (not included) to help your masterpiece stand out.
Replace the frame’s backing and you are done.
Admire your masterpiece.
Optionally, you could seal your masterpiece by using a clear paint or sealant to prevent smudging.
Tips
The more alcohol you use, the larger the flames. Please exercise caution.
The more times you lit the inks on fire, the darker or more “burnt” the colors you will have.
If you’re having trouble getting the colors to move and swirl, you need to add a little bit more alcohol.
The less rubbing alcohol you use, the darker the colors will be.
After the ink has dried, place the glass over a white background to see your masterpiece.
